- center-aligned, double-spaced, in upper and lower case letters, about halfway down the page;
- a shortened title in the running head, capitalized and followed by page number;
- beneath the title, the author’s full name excluding titles;
- beneath the author’s name, the institution affiliation where the research was conducted.

A research paper title page is not necessary under MLA requirements. However, the writer should include the following information in the upper left-hand corner of the first page:
- the author’s name;
- the instructor’s name;
- the course name;
- the date of submission.
Beneath, double-spaced, follows the centered title of the paper, and still beneath the left-aligned text is placed. The upper tight-hand corner features a header with the author’s last name followed by a space and page number.
Those are the basic principles of formatting a research paper title page. However, in your assignments always pay attention to individual instructor requirements.
